Alternative Routes to Certification
ARTC Grading Policy
To remain in UD ARTC, you must attend and actively participate in all courses and seminars and exit the program with a 2.0 GPA. It is expected that you will earn a grade of a “C” or better in each course or seminar in order to deem that course requirement successfully completed. You will be permitted a one-time grade of less than a “C”; however:
• The course in which you earn less than a “C” must be retaken (once only), and tuition must be paid for the course to be taken a second time and
-
- Earning another grade of less than a “C” in the same course is grounds for dismissal from UD ARTC.
- Earning another grade of less than a “C” in a second (different) course is grounds for dismissal from UD ARTC.
Please understand that failing courses not only puts you at risk of violating our grading policy, but can also delay or otherwise significantly affect your teacher certification. Not only will you have to retake a course in which you earn below a “C,” but you will also have to pay the tuition for that course to retake it. This significantly slows your progress in ARTC, potentially putting you at risk of being unable to complete your required coursework within the state-mandated deadline. Furthermore, failure to successfully complete coursework in a timely manner can constitute a violation of Delaware State Code surrounding ARTC teacher requirements and “satisfactory progress.”
